Thalner Fort is 1st capital of Faruqi kings. It stands on Tapi river banks in Shirpur taluka about 28 miles north-east of the Dhule, Maharashtra. In the time of Gavali/Ahir kings Thalner fort was at the top of its success and it was an essential business centre on Surat - Burhanpur highway. Nowadays it's simply an insignificant village.
The fort was reinforced by a tough fort which had a very important task in a history of Khandesh. Placed on the bank of Tapi river and base of fort is an old rock constructed temple dedicated to the Thaleshwar. The Thalner name possibly originated from this Thaleshwar temple's name.
