  • 1. Mangad is 17 kms from Mangaon on the Mumbai-Goa highway. The route to the fort is Mangaon – Nizampur (10 kms) – Borwadi (4 kms) – Mashidwadi (3 kms). From Mangaon one can take a bus or an auto to Nizampur and proceed further by auto. Mashidwadi is the base village for Mangad fort. The tar road which enters the village ends at a cement pavement which further has an unpaved road towards the left and keeping the fort to the left one reaches the cleft between the hills. There is a temple in the cleft behind which there are stairs leading to the fort.
    2. The cheapest mode of transport is Konkan Railway. One can board the Diva (06:00 AM) – Madgaon passenger which reaches Mangaon at 10:00 AM. After visiting Mangad fort one can proceed to Lonere village for Panhalghar fort and board the Madgaon – Diva passenger train at 05:00 PM at Goregaon Station on the return journey. In case of only Mangad fort visit one can board the train at Mangaon station at 05:00 PM.

  • Fort Mangad is a survey fort which is situated in Borwadi, an area near Mashidwadi in Mangaon, a taluka in Raigad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.The fort is made sacred by the footsteps of the founder of Hindavi Swaraj, the famous Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja. Mangaon is situated about 150 km from Mumbai.
