Surgad is fort situated near khamb village on the goa highway near nagothane at an height of 1507'. It is a very nice hike and best done as a monsoon hike.There is a beautiful waterfall a short distance from the fort and is a must see.This trek is a tough trek and it takes its toll on the legs.You should carry enough food, maybe two meals.
We started from Mulund by a private bus we(chakram hikers) had booked to go to the base village for the trek.Once we reached there we started the trek.This trek was done in the monsoons.From the village a quite muddy path which went through hedges and streams on flat land for a while.The fort of surgad can be seen stading impressively from here.Then the path rose up to a plateau towards the fort through thick jungle combined with rain all the time thru the trek.From here we had to find the way to a prominent gully seen on the front face of the fort.
